You work hard for your money and guess what, they are getting it right. APWU members can expect to receive their retroactive pay in paychecks dated April 10, 2026, as announced by the national union.

This payment reflects wage increases and contractual adjustments secured through the 2024–2027 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

What the Retroactive Pay Covers

The retroactive payment applies to the period:

  • November 16, 2024 through August 22, 2025

This represents the difference between what employees were paid and what they should have been paid under the new contract terms.

Who Will Receive Retro Pay

  • Current APWU members who worked or were on paid leave during the retroactive period

  • PSE employees, including applicable wage increases

  • Separated employees (retired, resigned, or otherwise left USPS) who had work hours or paid leave during the covered period

For separated employees, retroactive checks will be sent to the last office of record.

What to Expect

  • Retro pay will appear as a separate line item on your paycheck

  • The amount will vary by employee, based on hours worked, grade, and step progression

  • Payments may appear smaller than expected due to standard tax withholdings on supplemental wages

Why the Delay

The timeline is driven by the complexity of:

  • Payroll system updates

  • Processing pay scale changes

  • Updating employee records (PS Form 50s)

Despite the delay, these payments represent real gains secured through collective bargaining and the strength of union representation.

What You Should Do Next

  • Review your April 10 paycheck carefully

  • Compare with prior earnings if needed

  • Reach out to a steward or union representative if anything looks incorrect

Bottom Line

This retroactive pay is more than just a check. It is the result of organized labor, negotiated contracts, and members standing together.

That is what a union delivers.
